Getting Started
Yes. You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning counseling. Many people start therapy because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of why they are struggling—and that is a valid place to begin. At Apricity Rising Therapy Services, counseling is a collaborative process. Together, we can explore what has been weighing on you, identify your goals over time, and determine what kind of support may feel most helpful. If you are unsure whether counseling or our practice is the right fit, you are welcome to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation to ask questions and learn more about services.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) is a type of couples counseling that helps partners feel more understood, connected, and emotionally secure with one another. Rather than deciding who is “right” in an argument, EFCT looks at the cycle that can leave both partners feeling hurt, unheard, lonely, or stuck. In sessions, we gently explore what may be underneath recurring conflict or distance—for example, fear of rejection, a need for reassurance, or feeling overwhelmed—and practice sharing those feelings in ways that are easier for each partner to hear. The goal is to help you recognize negative patterns together, communicate with more openness, and create a stronger sense of connection. You do not need to have the “right” words or know exactly what needs to change before starting. EFCT offers a supportive, structured space to better understand your relationship and decide what moving forward can look like together.
